  • 8:00-8:30am – Registration
  • 8:30-8:55am – Overview of the WSU Wilke Farm
    • This portion will provide an agronomic and economic summary of the three different crop rotations on the farm with herbicide group rotations and stripe rust management.

  • 9:00-9:25am – The Importance of Soil Seedbank Sampling
    • This stop will focus on the importance of understanding what you have for weed seeds in your soil seedback and focus on drivers of weed seed emergence for better management timing.
      • Olivia Landau, USDA/ARS Weed Scientist, Pullman.
  • 9:30-9:55am – Enhancing and Preserving Glyphosate
    • This stop will focus on using pre-plant herbicide in Roundup Ready Canola to reduce herbicide selection pressure and Rapidacal in burndown application to enhance glyphosate and reduce selection pressure.
      • Aaron Esser, WSU Regional Extension Specialist, Ritzville.
  • 10:00-10:25am – Spring Canola Variety and Agronomic Practices
    • This location will focus on spring canola variety selection based on weed pressure and herbicide tolerance. Agronomic practices will also cover fungicide applications during early bloom for greater yield.

  • 10:30-10:55am – Winter Wheat Plant Health with Fungicides and Alternative Nitrogen
    • This stop will focus on fungicide timing at flag leaf to reduce disease and enhance plant health and is looking at alternative nitrogen sources and timing to enhance weed control and improve plant growth.
      • Morgan Menacher, Regional WSU Extension Specialist, Colfax.
  • 11:00-11:25am – Acid Soil Management in PNW Cropping Systems
    • This session will focus on managing soil pH and micro-nutrients for better plant health and less disease pressure in the PNW. Our best herbicide remains a good competitive crop.
      • Rachel Wieme, Regional WSU Extension Specialist, Colfax.
  • 11:30-11:55am – Farm Bill and Crop Insurance
    • This stop will focus on the newly passed Farm Bill in the House and what it might mean for farmers moving forward. A critical aspect of this legislation the legal immunity for pesticide makers. New programs in crop insurance will also be highlighted
      • Colby Field, University of Idaho Agricultural Economist, Extension Educator, Moscow.
  • 12:00-1:10pm – Lunch and Lunch Program
